Aviwe Business Development (Aviwe BDS) is involved in the installation of Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) or Direct To Home (DTT) Set Top Boxes (STBs).
The South African Government took a decision to migrate from analogue to digital broadcasting signals to be in line with the rest of the developed world. To that end, the Government committed to supply 5.2 million free Set Top Boxes to indigent households.
As Aviwe BDS we are proud to be part of a panel of 26 Service Providers that have been appointed by the Department of Communication through USSASA. USAASA is a government urgency that is responsible for the implementation of the digital migration project. We have to that effect signed an SLA with USAASA to implement the project. We are particularly proud to be part of this project as it is of international magnitude and marks an important era in broadcasting in our country and the world over.
The Set Top Boxes have a capacity to convert digital broadcasting signals on analogue TV sets which most of the said indigent households utilise.
The migration to Digital Terrestrial broadcasting will have a general positive effect in so far as information provision to the general populace of South Africa is concerned. Furthermore, the migration process will be responsive to the needs and challenges of the poor and thereby ensuring that they too, consume mainstream media through digital broadcasting.
Other advantages of Digital broadcasting include efficiency, provision of better picture and exceptional sound quality. It also has the potential to increase the amount and variety of television content and increase consumer choice. Currently in most areas the STBs owners immediately have access to 4 SABC channels and 5 ETV free to air channels with an option of adding extra channels supplied by Multichoice through a boutique called O-TV.
As Aviwe BDS, we currently have foot print in two provinces mainly the North West and Eastern Cape with a view of being part of Gauteng as soon as rollout spread through to Gauteng province. We proudly partnered with local installers which help with Local Economic Development as propagated by the national government as part the National Development Plan.
Potential installers that have the requisite experience or have been involved in similar projects before and or those that have undergone training for DTT with a reputable training Service Provider can call our office and request to speak to the DTT Project Manager or Chief Operating Officer on the following Office No. (011) 492 3577 or e-mail at: firstname.lastname@example.org
